Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement

Russums manufacture and distribute catering clothing, equipment, professional knives and books.  It is our policy to provide products and services that meet and exceed the expectations and needs of our customers and to ensure that products are supplied to defined standards of content and fitness for purpose.

Modern slavery (commonly called such as ‘slavery’, ‘child labour’ and ‘human trafficking’) is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights.  It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and will not engage in business with any business who does so.  We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains.

If we discover that any business or individual associated with our business is engaged in, supporting, condoning or failing to prevent such activities, when such activities are within their control or influence, we will cease connection with them.  We will also consider whether we are under any reporting or other legal duty in respect of this disassociation and our reasons for it.

The prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains is the responsibility of us all.  We expect you immediately to report to the Head Buyer any reasonable grounds for believing that any of these prohibited activities are occurring in any of our business activities or supply chains.

We expect all of our suppliers to share a similar commitment to the same levels of compliance.  As part of our annual supply chain review, suppliers are asked to confirm compliance with relevant legal obligations and industry best practices applicable to their business.

Russums is committed to trading relationships which are both commercially viable and ethical.  Please see our Ethical Trading Statement and Environmental & Sustainability Policy for further details.  We do not anticipate that any circumstance of modern slavery would arise in the operation of our business activities.

To the best of our knowledge neither we, nor any of our officers, employees or other persons associated with us, have been convicted of any offence involving slavery and human trafficking; and/or have been or are the subject of any investigation, inquiry or enforcement proceedings by any governmental, administrative or regulatory body regarding any offence or alleged offence of or in connection with slavery and human trafficking.
